4 Day Diet Review – My Journal – Start Day

I watched Dr. Ian K. Smith on the Rachael Ray Show a few days ago and while I wasn’t already aware of him, I’ve checked him out and like what I’ve found. He seems like he has a real common-sense approach to health and wellness. So, I decided to read his book, The 4 Day Diet.

The first several chapters deal with a lot of stuff yo-yo dieters need to address in order to be able to motivate themselves to stick to a new lifestyle. The principles in the diet, from what I’ve read so far, point to a new lifestyle and new approach to food and fitness. I skimmed the first several chapters and while some of them didn’t apply to me as I’m not a lifelong yo-yo dieter (I’ve only put on about 25 pounds in the last few years and was a skinny mini before that),I do see how, if I leave things with my habits as is, I could relate to many people in the not too distant future.

I did the 11-day Fat Loss 4 Idiots diet and highly recommend it if you’re willing to stick to the regimented plan for 11 days, take 3 days off, and then do another round. I had success with it when I started this blog a few years ago. I was planning to try it again to help me kickstart things in the right direction for a healthy new year’s resolution but after seeing Dr. Ian K. Smith, decided that it would be good for me to try this plan and it could be helpful for my blog readers as well.

This plan is a 28-day diet consisting of seven x four-day modules. I like the idea of the modules as I don’t expect to get too bored with the food since it will change every few days.  I know, from the Idiot Proof Diet that this helps to trick your metabolism and avoid the plateau. The 4 day diet book has a whole section of really tasty-looking recipes as well.

Day 1

So, today is day 1of the first 4 days. This is the detox module, or the induction period of the four day diet. I’m not going to be eating any bread or meat  for these first four days to detoxify my body.  At first glance, the 4 day menu looks pretty good. There is a lot of food to keep me full, such as: fruit, beans, yogurt, brown rice, salad, and cooked vegetables. I’ll be spacing my meals out to several small ones throughout the day and plan to drink plenty of lemon water to aid in the detox process.

I’ll be back to report more tomorrow for day 2 of the 4 day diet, induction module.

Will a Colon Cleanse Boost Your Metabolism?

Because our bodies can accumulate several pounds of fecal matter in our intestines, it stands to reason that a colon cleanse can help you lose some weight.  But what about your metabolism? Can a cleanse help you burn more calories?

A body that’s filled with toxic matter will perform sluggishly. Optimum plumbing can equate to optimum metabolisation of your food. It stands to reason then, that a period cleanse could be helpful, especially if you’ve had a spell of bad habits (holidays eating, for instance.)

The best solution to a top-performing metabolism is healthy eating, plenty of rest, and regular exercise but a safe colon cleansing can certainly be helpful.

When shopping around for a colon cleanser, consider using something that’s safe, all-natural, and that doesn’t cause colon contractions. An oxygen-based cleanser is often a safe and non-habit forming option.  I have had a good experience with Oxy Powder)

How Often Can You Do The Fat Loss 4 Idiots Diet?

Some people worry about the safety of the Idiot Proof Diet / aka: Fat Loss 4 Idiots. The makers of the diet deem it as very safe. It might seem like you’re eating a lot of protein or a lot of fat but considering the fact that you’re also taking in a lot of fruits and vegetables on the fruit and veggie days, does it all balance out?

Most who’ve done the diet state it’s very safe to use this diet continuously until you’ve reached your goal weight. Then, if you need to, you can do a session or two if you need to drop just a few pounds (before a big event or after a bit of excessive indulgence.)

Here are a few tips that can aid in your overall health and nutrition while doing the diet:

  1. Take a multivitamin
  2. Ensure you’re well hydrated
  3. Eat complex carbs on cheat days. (Small portions and COMPLEX instead of bad carbs)
  4. Watch your pH level. Ensure your body is at an alkaline state. Strive for a pH of 7.4.

Watch how you feel while on the diet. Many feel wonderful after they overcome their first cycle, especially seeing the great results. Because you can do the diet again and again with your lifetime membership and access to the diet access generator, it’s a good idea to make the most of it.
