Today is day 5 of the Idiot Proof Diet. To read my journal from day 1, start here. I have 6 days to go on the Calorie Shifting Diet. Am I tricking my metabolism? I think so because I ate a lot of food yesterday and still lost weight. So far I’ve lost 4 pounds.

Yesterday I never got my brisk walk because of some at-home drama regarding my pets (don’t ask!) and almost worst than the drama we had that threw off my schedule for the day was the drama my spouse inflicted by dashing out at 10:00 for donuts.
I think I cussed (Ok, I know I did) at him and looked in the box when he got home and although a coconut covered jelly filled donut is now on my list of things to eat when I have my three cheat days, I was alright.
It’s not nice to go it alone on a diet like this with junk food junkies in the house but the progress I’ve had so far gave me some mojo. I had a big portion of salted cashews at about 10:30 and late night salt and crunch is my thing more than sweets anyway so I didn’t go to bed hungry.
Day 5 Menu
So, I’m not super crazy about some of what I have to eat today because as much as I loved the tuna salad plate on day 3, it felt too soon to eat it again but tomorrow is looking better so I’ll be ok and tomorrow night I get dessert of frozen yogurt.
I’m getting bored with deli meat and at the meals where I can opt for it with something else, I’m opting NOT to eat it. I decided to run the online diet generator for my next round with this diet out of curiosity and leave most of the deli meat choices out and the next menu looks good with a few differences from this one so it’s nice to see that the online diet generator does offer some flexibility when you do back to back rounds.
If you’re worried about wanting to try this and not being a big meat eater (or being a vegetarian) I do know there is a vegetarian version of the idiot proof diet and when you pick and choose your food for your personalized diet menu you can choose foods that appeal to you. I may be ‘off’ deli because of a recent listeriosis outbreak in my area so hopefully that’ll pass.
