As the author of this blog, I don’t just talk the talk about calorie shifting diets, I’m also walking the walk.  Here is a journal of  Day 1 of 11 of the Idiot Proof Diet:

Date: Tuesday, October 14, 2008

I downloaded the diet last night from: this link. It included an e-book and access to an online diet plan for $39. I’m confident with the purchase as there is a money-back guarantee if I’m not satisfied. I’ve read a lot of positive reviews about the Fat Loss 4 Idiots system of calorie shifting.

Why Am I Dieting?

I’ve been a skinny mini all my life..until the past 4 years. I had my second child and am now in my thirties plus am now a non-smoker who went from working in a busy corporate environment to working from my house.  Sedentary lifestyle + quitting smoking + child birth + getting older = 15 extra pounds. Time to nip this in the BUTT. :)

The 45 page e-book was easy to read and explained 10 rules of the diet plus gave other helpful advice.  I also have lifetime access to an online menu generator.  I’m to follow the diet plan for 11 days and then have 3 cheat days.  After that, I can choose to use it again whenever I wish with my secure login ID and password.

How is day 1 of the idiot proof diet going?

It’s now 8:40 pm and I’ve eaten 3 of my 4 designated meals and I feel good so far.  I dished up dessert for the kids leftover from Thanksgiving dinner yesterday and felt ok and wasn’t craving pie and ice cream.

When I wasn’t ok, actually, was when I was shredding cheese for my husband’s veal parmigiana and I got to the end of the cheese cube and got within an inch of putting the end in my mouth.  I stopped myself and remembered.

Dinner was really good, surprisingly, considering the strangeness of the menu.  I had grilled chicken on the George Foreman with BBQ sauce along side warmed peaches and a hard boiled egg.  Earlier I had turkey and mixed vegetables and earlier than that I had some scrambled eggs.  In about 1.5 hours I can have tuna salad or peanuts. I bought some roasted peanuts in the shell so I’ll have some of those later. I’m thinking the extra time shelling them will mean eating fewer of them.

Oopsy Daisy!

I accidentally lost the week’s menu from the online diet generator which was visible on Firefox in a tab and thought I’d had it saved to my desktop but when I looked for the html file it was just the logos. I freaked!

I made a new plan and on the plan, today’s diet that I consumed was slightly different from the new day 1 listed but the foods I’ve shopped for to do tomorrow’s plan is identical so I’m thinking it’s not SO bad. A lot of the foods were similar from today. I did a ctrl +a to highlight all on the screen and pasted into a MS Word document and checked that it saved correctly BEFORE letting Firefox close the window!

I am thinking if I can figure out which diet day I had today by matching it up in the new plan I might swap the new day 1 with whichever day that is. I think that’ll work because I know from the e-book that this plan shifts the days around each time you regenerate it to help do calorie cycling.  Hopefully it’ll work out ok.

Anyway, today went well. I’m not sure how tomorrow will go as I need to eat specific fruits for 3 of the 4 meals tomorrow with a sandwich for the 4th meal. I think that’s the only bread I’ll get for a while so I’ll be sure to enjoy it!

Food Stats For Today

Based on what I ate (and plan to eat the rest of the night) , I used an online food diary and here’s what it looked like:

total calories: 1449

% Carbs:28%

%Protein:35%

%Fat: 38%

I’ll be back tomorrow for Day 2.

(If you want to skip to the end of the diet diary and see the end results / post-mortem results, see this post)

  1. I am just wondering when you actually did this diet? How long ago? I was considering it. I haven’t read the rest of your blog so I don’t know your outcome. The one thing that confused me right off the bat was that you mentioned that you used Thanksgiving left over and your post is dated 0ct 14 2008. Did you just post this then but did the diet last year??

    thanks
    Nichole

  2. Hi Nichole,
    Thanks for your question.

I did it this year (just a few weeks ago.) I’m in Canada and our Thanksgiving is the 2nd Sunday each October. I love Thanksgiving so might just celebrate US Thanksgiving as well. LOL :)
